Numerical study of an optical regenerator exploiting self-phase modulation and spectral offset filtering at 40 Gbit/s
2008
Topic: Nonlinear optics; International audience; In this work, we numerically investigate the performances of optical regenerators based on self-phase modulation and spectral offset filtering at 40 Gbit/s. We outline the different effects affecting the device performances and explain the choice of the optimal working power. The impact of the regenerator on the output signal is also analysed through a statistical approach. Both single- and double-stage configurations are investigated.
Multiple four-wave mixing in optical fibers: 1.5–3.4-THz femtosecond pulse sources and real-time monitoring of a 20-GHz picosecond source
2010
International audience; In this work, we report recent progress on the design of all-fibered ultra-high repetition-rate pulse sources for telecommunication applications around 1550 nm. The sources are based on the non-linear compression of an initial beat-signal through a multiple four-wave mixing process taking place into an optical fiber. We experimentally demonstrate real-time monitoring of a 20 GHz pulse source having an integrated phase noise 0.01 radian by phase locking the initial beat note against a reference RF oscillator. Based on this technique, we also experimentally demonstrate a well-separated high-quality 110 fs pulse source having a repetition rate of 2 THz. Finally, we show…
Modeling spectral correlations of photon-pairs generated in liquid-filled photonic crystal fiber
2020
The generation of photon-pairs with controllable spectral correlations is crucial in quantum photonics. Here we present the design of a photonic crystal fiber to generate widely-spaced four-wave mixing bands with spectral correlations that can be tuned through the thermo-optic effect after being infiltrated with heavy water. We present a theoretical study of the purity of the signal (idler) photon generated as a function of temperature, pump spectral linewidth and the length of the fiber. 511-6/18-8876 CIIC155/2019 APN-624 TEC2016- 76664-C2-1-R PROMETEO/2019/048
Simple New Method for the Preparation of La(IO3)3 Nanoparticles
2020
We present a cost- and time-efficient method for the controlled preparation of single phase La(IO3)3 nanoparticles via a simple soft-chemical route, which takes a matter of hours, thereby providing an alternative to the common hydrothermal method, which takes days. Nanoparticles of pure &alpha
Development of non-linear nano-structured compounds for the generation of ultrafast impulse dynamics in fiber LASER cavity
2019
My thesis work presented in this doctoral dissertation has started a new research axis within the Carnot Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Burgundy, and is part of the "Information processing devices" program of the Labex ACTION. This research consortium aims to optimize all the steps of an information processing system, using nano-structured materials and non-linear functionalities. In this context, this thesis focuses on the generation of optical signals in the near infrared, with the main objective of hybridizing integrated photonics with fiber laser cavities. These innovative hybrid LASERs offer, by design, many advantages that are particularly sought-after in the field of telecommunicati…
Non-linear interactions of femtosecond laser pulses with graphene : photo-oxidation, imaging and photodynamics
2017
This thesis presents a study focused on interactions of femtosecond laser pulses with graphene, a one atom thick carbon membrane. Graphene, which exhibits exceptional electronic and optoelectronic properties, could provide considerable advantage over current silicon-based electronics. Graphene alone, being semi-metal, is not sufficient for electronic applications, but requires modification. For this, a set of methods for modifying and measuring the properties of graphene was developed. With the perspective of making graphene a suitable component for electronics, optoelectronics or photonics, ultrashort laser pulses were used for drawing patterns on graphene. The procedure modifies graphene …
Self-organization of incoherent optical waves : Condensation, thermalization and repolarization
2019
The subject of this thesis concerns the study of phenomena of self-organization of incoherentoptical waves. This work is essentially theoretical and numerical and relies on different formalisms of waveturbulence theory, the Hamiltonian singularities, and different experiments. The first part of the thesis deals with the irreversible processes of thermalization and condensation ofincoherent waves. The phenomenon of condensation is characterized by the formation of a large scale co-herent structure (condensate) that remains immersed in a sea of small scale fluctuations (uncondensedparticules). In spite of the large propagation lengths required to reach the condensed equilibrium state, wehave i…
